Situated amidst forestry and farming land, this is a beautiful, versatile beat on the right bank of the river. Predominantly secluded with 3 huts. The main hut at the famous Calm Pool is a popular lunchtime rendezvous for all beat rods with cooking facilities and wood-burning stove.
Carlogie is a renowned streamy, classic fly water, which fishes well at all heights but particularly at low levels when it excels. The 16 named pools give a fine variety of challenge or ease to satisfy all techniques and tastes. Vehicular access is available to all pools, otherwise short walks via pleasant river paths are available. Wading is most easy and seeking depth is not a priority to reach lies. As well as salmon there is good sea-trout fishing from early summer throughout the beat. Like the other Ballogie Estate beats, Carlogie is a naturalist’s paradise with a wide diversity of flora and fauna. On the opposite bank lie the Dess and Kincardine beats.

Carlogie is the upper of the three Ballogie Estate beats. Central is Ballogie itself and the lower is Commonty.
The Carlogie Beat extends from Long Haugh down the south bank of the River Dee to the Boat of Kincardine, with fishing for 3 rods (1.7 miles). There are 20 pools and 3 huts; 1 hut has no facilities, 1 hut has heating and the main hut has gas heating, a gas light and a gas cooker for heating water and snacks. There is access for vehicles, via surfaced road and tracks leading off the B993 at Hunters Lodge, to the top of the beat and to Garden Pool and Calm Pool further down the beat. A footpath runs along most of the beat and there is access to the bank all along the beat.
