LOCATION:
Middle Dee between Kincardine O’Neil and Banchory. Right (south) bank of River Dee 1.5 miles from Ballogie Beat down to Upper Blackhall, opposite Sluie and Woodend beats. Thirteen named pools. 3 huts are available on this beat, no water, no electricity, 1 hut with wood-burning stove, portaloo and a gas cooker for heating water and snacks.

DESCRIPTION:
The lowest of the three Ballogie Estate beats, the Commonty ownership is shared with Finzean Estate although bookings and arrangements are carried out as with Carlogie and Ballogie beats.

Commonty is a secluded and extremely attractive beat. Access is gained by a forest road which descends through coniferous woodland to the river. The pools are of extremely varied character which enables fishing at all heights. The main pool, the Garden, is an angler’s delight and versatile to the most discerning fisher. Suicide, the top pool, as the name suggests has difficult wading with good reward while the Chair, Loop, Bend and Points are productive pools with their own attractive characteristics. In all, Commonty is a lovely beat of great variety where peace and quiet is an added bonus. Like all Ballogie beats the flora and fauna is one of the main bonuses with roe deer and otters common sights.

There are two main huts with one secondary and vehicular access is available to all pools with the exception of Suicide, Loop, Bend and Points where short walks by the river are necessary.

Part-time ghillie included in price of beat from 01 February to last week of June, thereafter additional charge per week.

Seasonal self-catering cottages are available for rent. Please phone Ballogie Estate for details and prices.

Guests are strongly advised to equip themselves with and wear a fisherman's life-jacket or suitable buoyancy aid. All personal property left in Fishing Huts is done so at owner's risk.
